A Conversation with Coluxe Founder Priyanka Gill
Priyanka Gill
, Founder & CEO of Coluxe, is rewriting the rules of
fine jewellery
- championing lab-grown stones, bold colour, and the radical act of
women buying diamonds for themselves.
When you meet Priyanka, you feel it instantly: this is someone who builds with feeling. With multiple successful companies behind her, she could have chosen anything for her next chapter. She chose something intimate. Intentional. Daringly beautiful.
Coluxe is
fine jewellery
for the now -
lab-grown diamonds
and
gemstones
, sustainably sourced, emotionally resonant, and designed to be lived in every day. But behind the sparkle lies a deeper story: one of belonging, boldness, and redefining what luxury feels like, especially for women who once felt outside its gates.
Coluxe feels like a love letter to women who’ve felt left out of luxury. Where did that come from?
Priyanka:
It came from
being that woman
.
I grew up in a small town. Diamonds weren’t on our radar - they felt like they belonged to another world entirely. Later, as life changed, I found myself in rooms where diamonds were everywhere - weddings, dinners, high-society events. And I noticed something: diamonds weren’t just jewellery. They were social signals. And when you didn’t have them - or had the “wrong kind” - you felt it.
My first engagement ring was a cluster of small stones. It wasn’t until years later, when I bought myself my first solitaire, that I felt a
different kind of power
. Not because of the carat, but
because of the choice
. I wasn’t waiting anymore. I wasn’t asking. I was claiming something that had once felt unreachable.
Coluxe is built for that moment - when you realise you deserve beautiful things, and you don’t need anyone else’s permission.
That connects to your brand pillar around belonging and access.
Priyanka:
Exactly.
Luxury has long been about gatekeeping. From the price to the store experience, it can feel like a velvet rope.
At Coluxe, we flipped i
t: what if luxury wasn’t a gate, but a welcome mat?
Everything - from how we speak to our customers to how we design and price our jewellery - is rooted in respect and inclusion. We treat you like you already belong, because you do.
Why build the foundation on lab-grown stones?
Priyanka:
Because they are the
future
.
Lab-grown diamonds
are chemically, physically, and visually identical to mined - but lighter on the planet, transparent in origin, and more affordable. They carry no baggage of harm, only the progress and precision of how they’re made.
Lab-grown lets us deliver luxury with zero compromise: ethical, beautiful, modern. That’s the future Coluxe is proud to lead.
Coluxe’s design is distinctive. What drives it?
Priyanka:
We don’t design to impress. We design to
express
.
Every piece is imagined for how she’ll wear it: can she layer it, live in it, pass it on, or keep it just for herself?
We’re obsessed with stacking. It’s not just a trend - it’s a language. You build a stack the way you build a life: a ring for your first job, a bracelet for a new city, an emerald on a thread simply because it moved you. It’s emotional architecture - personal, evolving, never finished.
Colour has become a Coluxe signature.
Priyanka:
Yes. In India,
colour is everywhere in our culture
. Yet everyday jewellery often becomes beige or white, with colour reserved for weddings.
We’ve brought it back into
daily wear
- with
lab-grown emeralds
,
rubies
, and
sapphires
that are as rich as their mined counterparts, without the cost or conflict. Colour brings play, energy, and emotion. It’s jewellery as punctuation - a ruby for strength, an emerald for growth, a sapphire for clarity.
Who is the Coluxe woman?
Priyanka:
She’s
self-directed
.
Whether she’s early in her career or building her second act, what unites her is agency. She’s not waiting for jewellery to be gifted. She’s choosing it herself, as part of her daily life.
She celebrates her wins
- big, small, or just because.
Why is it important to celebrate women who buy their own jewellery?
Priyanka:
Because it’s time to
rewrite the script
.
For too long, fine jewellery was something women received - as a gift, as a gesture, as permission. Rarely was it something she chose purely for herself. But that choice -
to buy something simply because it lights you up
- is powerful.
We’re not here to make her wait. We’re here to remind her she’s already earned it.
What has surprised you most while building Coluxe?
Priyanka:
The
emotion
.
Women have shared such personal stories with us - about wearing diamonds for the first time,
marking independence
,
reclaiming joy
. It confirmed what I’ve always believed: jewellery isn’t about prestige. It’s about permission. Most women have never been given it - and now, they’re giving it to themselves.
What do you hope someone feels when they wear Coluxe?
Priyanka:
Like she’s
home
in her own skin. Like she’s the
main character
in her own life. Like the room belongs to her - because she belongs.
That’s what jewellery should do:
reflect your truth
, not rewrite it.
And what’s next for Coluxe?
Priyanka:
So much.
Our website launch is exciting - a clean, contemporary home for our first collections. Most importantly, we’re building a
community that celebrates women
for showing up as themselves. Because Coluxe isn’t just about jewellery. It’s about joy. And she’s choosing it.
